Culture, research and community

About us

Endimione ETS is a non-profit Third Sector association based in Brescia, Italy, founded to promote cultural, educational and outreach initiatives open to the community.

We are people with different backgrounds, skills and interests, united by a common goal: making knowledge more accessible and shared. We believe in a culture that can speak to different audiences, step outside specialist circles and create opportunities for research, institutions and citizens to meet.

Why “Endimione”?

In Greek myth, Endymion is the young man loved by Selene, or Diana, goddess of the Moon, and is often shown in an eternal sleep. Over the centuries this image has been taken up and transformed, as by John Keats, whose Endymion opens with the famous line: “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.”

The name Endimione recalls the ancient world and, at the same time, the power of beauty and culture to travel through time, change and keep speaking to the present.
